Different colors on different browser?
by starvin_marvin on Sep.04, 2008, under FYI, Photography, Tech GEEK!
Ever tried comparing a similar picture side by side using Firefox and safari?
Well if you do, I believe you have already notice that safari produce a nicer picture; similar to what you would see when opened with Photoshop. This happen as most browsers (e.g. IE, Firefox2) ignores the color profile embedded onto the pictures.
What is color profile you may ask?
In short a color profile not only saves information about the colors but also the amount of light available, distance and other factors that may affect how an image is perceived. Thus with the color profile being ignored a picture will be reproduced with slight variation in colors when viewed with different browsers.
Well to solve this you can use safari as your primary browser as they do support color management, alternatively you can use Firefox 3 and enable color management. Enter “about:config” in the address bar and set gfx.color_management.enabled to true
Wala there you go.

A piece of dust can be a pain in the A**
by starvin_marvin on Sep.01, 2008, under Photography, Rant
Yeah, I’m so irritated over this piece of dust/dirt that is stuck in my camera. I don’t know where but it is there; either on the mirror or the focusing screen. Imagine looking thru the damn viewfinder and a black dot keep appearing on the same damn spot. Well I bet DSLR user out there know how ***** this can be. That’s just so irritating. There seems to be more than that. Think the mirror is a tad dirty too; well I clean it a few times though. Heard Nikon provides free cleaning for cameras under warranty (Local set though). Gonna make a trip to Nikon service centre tomorrow later to get it cleaned. Hopefully I can get it cleaned for free else I have to pay 20-30bucks for it. (Mine’s a Hong Kong set btw)
Ho Chi Minh City
by starvin_marvin on Jul.25, 2008, under Fun & Play!!, Ho Chi Minh, Photography, Travel
Finally taken some time to sort out and post some of the pictures taken at Ho chin minh. Well I have been shooting in RAW format all this while and thus it require some extra time to process the image. Through this few days of travelling I have accumulated over 1200 pictures (a whopping 10Gb), all waiting to be sorted out and processed; man that’s a bloody damn chore. Hmm, maybe I should just start to shoot in Jpeg again as is compacted and more convenient. Well that remain a much debatable issue. For now I shall present the City Hall of Ho Chi Minh City.
Thats all for now!!
Cheers
